About

Inspire every person to blossom into their own flower; for the flower is the moment we live.

Bakabush is my love letter to Belize - a celebration of Indigenous, Ancestral and Caribbean wisdom that deserves to be seen, honored and shared.

Born from loss and resilience, Bakabush honors the timeless power of plants to restore us.

Every product we create is intentionally crafted to hold sacred space - supporting our bodies through changes, transitions, trauma, and the beautiful complexity of being human.

We carry forward the healing our ancestors always knew we needed as we navigate our own journeys of transformation and renewal.

Our Story

My spirit was first seeded in the beautiful rainforests of Belize on the gorgeous emerald Placencia peninsula -  'Back a Bush' as we call it.

As a lee pickney (small child), I was captivated by the Buyeis - the Garifuna healers in my village.  My people's way of life fascinated me - freely living and carrying out their spiritual path the iyunaü (ancestors) laid out before them.  Buyeis somehow knew the intimate secrets of the ancient world and the language of plants, and I yearned to know more. These memories left a strong imprint on my soul and stayed with me always.

Years later after giving birth to my son in 2011, my body spoke to me through womb struggle that spilled over into every corner of my life.  Searching for answers, I found myself returning to the beginning - back to plants; back to the wisdom I had witnessed as a child.

That's when the impetus for creating Bakabush first started.  I knew it had a place in the world because women needed it - I needed it.   And when grief found me after losing my partner and son's father, herbs became my lifeline and anchor.  Plants reminded me that nature holds us through our darkest moments and our most powerful transformations.

That's when I knew: this wasn't just personal healing - it was my calling.

Bakabush was born to bring the healing power of plants back to those who need them most and are believers in its power.
