"The uterus is a woman's center, and if it's not in good position or condition, nothing in her life will be right." - Don Elijio Panti
The Wake-Up Call
Ah tell you, I will never forget that afternoon on the bathroom floor.
It was one of those moments of extreme vulnerability when my partner found me hemorrhaging and barely conscious.
My body was screaming for help. This wasn't just another difficult period—this was my wake-up call.
For months, I was experiencing dizzy spells, blackouts, and periods that came without warning, stealing entire weeks from my life! What used to be manageable cycles was now these unpredictable episodes of heavy bleeding that weren't just inconvenient— they were dangerous, happening at work and during sleep, my body betraying me when I least expected it.
But that day on the bathroom floor changed everything.

The Diagnosis That Changed My Life
My visit to the ER revealed what my intuition was telling me for years: that something was deeply wrong. My uterus was filled with fibroids—some the size of small apples—and I was severely anemic, just barely staggering on the edge of needing a blood transfusion. This combination of physical illness, postpartum depression, work stress, and a "sometimes love" kinda romantic relationship I was involved in had created the perfect storm.
The final straw came when vertigo came over me while I was driving to work one morning. I blacked out and crashed into the car in front of me. Although no one was seriously hurt, thankfully, I was traumatized and my world became delirious, being barely able to walk without dizzy spells knocking me down.
My body was demanding that I stop. Everything. And listen.
While I was seeking out various paths to recovery, I reflected on a truth that cut deep inside me .... when my son was born, I didn't follow the traditional Garifuna customs that the generations of women in my family before me practiced and honored to care for their wombs after childbirth. My womb suffered greatly for abandoning these ancient practices. Shucks mein!
(sigh)
Mein, the signs were there all along you know?! But now I was finally ready to see them.
I knew the time had come for me to seek out a Garifuna Buyei (Healer) or Maya Shaman for the healing my ancestors would prescribe. This decision would transform not just my health, but my entire understanding of what it means to be a woman.

Plants as Allies: The Path to Healing
What I've discovered over the years through working with naturopaths, buyeis, shamans, and other traditional healers is so profound: plants have always been our allies. The herbal remedies they prescribed didn't just address my symptoms; it addressed me as a whole person —they lifted me from depression, kept fibroids at bay after I had my myomectomy, and opened a pathway to ancient wisdom that unearthed itself from childhood memories.
As life-givers, nurturers, and spiritual warriors, women hold immense space in the universe, often at the cost of neglecting our most sacred centers—our wombs. To this day, Don Elijio Panti's words rings so true: when our wombs are not in good position or condition, nothing in our lives can be truly aligned.
Our periods tell us so much about our reproductive health, and with the guidance of these healers, I learned to listen. I started my journey into herbalism, and dove deeper into the intelligence of plants.
For me, this wouldn't just be about treating fibroids—this would now be about reconnecting with the sacred wisdom that was passed down through generations of women who understood that our wombs are our power centers.

A Mission Born from Healing
Healing my womb changed my life in ways I never imagined possible. I got reconnected to my ancestors, it taught me to trust my body's wisdom, and it showed me the magical healing power of plants. Most important, it revealed my purpose to help other women on their own womb health journeys.
Your Journey Awaits
